Thursday, 11th May, saw recognition for a lot of hard work that has been invested in turning around the fortunes of Basingstoke, as it was voted ‘Town of the Year’ at the Thames Valley Property Awards ceremony.
Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council were crowned winners despite tough competition in the ‘final’ from Bracknell and Reading. They were seen as being instrumental in making huge progress towards creating opportunities for future growth, implementing a successful town centre strategy and enhancing the town’s brand. There was recognition for “the ambitious multi-million pound programme of new commercial, residential, leisure and infrastructure projects, either underway or planned”.
