Linda is well known as a rating expert and has been providing strategic business rates advice to owner and occupier clients, ranging from investors, developers & multi-nationals to SMEs, family run firms and sole traders, across a broad range of property types, for over 30 years.
She obtained a degree in Surveying from the College of Estate Management in Reading after studying on a correspondence basis and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1992. She is a Corporate Member of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation and a member of the Rating Surveyors Association and takes an active part in Government Consultations on business rates matters in the hope of being able to help shape the future of rating. She has frequently been invited to speak on the topic of business rates.
Having spent part of her career undertaking Landlord and Tenant work (rent reviews, lease renewals, lease regears and representation at Third Party disputes, including at Oral Hearings) she is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators which has given her the edge when appearing at Rating Tribunal.
During her career Linda has mostly worked for private practice firms based in the Thames Valley but with a UK wide offering and has previously (at differing times) held the positions of Equity Partner and Salaried Partner at other well-known organisations as well as having been the Sole Practitioner of her own rating business.
Business rates has become an increasingly complex area and in her current role as Rating Strategist and Analyst Linda utilises her breadth of experience and creativity to navigate a way to achieving the best solution for each individual client over the long term, reacting to changes of circumstances along the way and in so doing minimising rates liabilities.
Outside of work Linda enjoys keeping physically fit and can be found at her local gym, burning off enough calories to then reward herself with a large glass of wine or slice of cake!
