The RICS has called on the Government to take urgent action on Empty Property Rates after the TaxPayers’ Alliance today reveal that £1.1 bn was paid last year in business rates on empty properties.
The RICS said the Government “must look again at this issue if it is serious about supporting small businesses on our High Streets”.
It said it was still to see any confirmation from Government on defining the exemption for new build that the Chancellor announced in the Autumn Statement.
