EM Highways Ltd are to return to Basingstoke after a 2 year absence. Furthermore, they have acquired 11,196 sq ft of offices on the Viables Business Park within very close proximity to their original address in the town.
Bridgwater Holdings Ltd have announced the EMH letting within Bridgwater House on Viables, via their letting agents bdt and Clare & Co. EMH join STERIS Ltd and TaylorMade Golf as tenants in the building.
A 7 year lease has been signed between the parties, to incorporate 2 break options – a requirement linked to the contractual period secured by EMH from central Government for the maintenance and management of the principal highways in Hampshire. The rent associated with the letting remains undisclosed.
EMH will be looking to relocate staff into the offices within the next few weeks having rapidly outgrown the constraints of their Easton Lane motorway compound at Winchester.
Richard Thomas from BDT commented, “This is a pretty significant letting in a gradually improving Basingstoke office market. The better quality space on the Chineham and Viables Business Parks is continuing to attract tenant attention despite a high proportion of enquiries now favouring a more central location. The visual signs of improvements to Basing View, significantly the John Lewis/Waitrose scheme, are beginning to influence the local market demand”.
